Permanent grassland must be dominated by persistent and durable forage species. It is these leading characteristics which combine to create reliable grass, a dense sward and productive grazing thus minimising the risk of weed grasses (with little or no feed value) re-establishing into the pasture.
The grasses and clovers in our Permanent Grassland blend are chosen for their tolerance of defoliation, cold weather and ability to yield well on most soil types throughout the growing season. Timothy is included for both its winter hardiness and high palatability whilst the clover increases the overall protein content and to some degree, the drought tolerance of the grazing sward.
The listed varieties in this mixture together produce reliable forage for permanent grassland grazing by milk and meat stock or for cutting as a conservation crop.
